New initiatives in education are, well, nothing new.
Blended Learning is different. Never before has there been a technological wave followed rapidly by a drastic decrease in the cost of technology. Erate programs have extended the Internet to school districts and devices are very inexpensive compared to the previous arbiter of knowledge, the textbook. Schools and districts are compelled to embrace technology to teach students in K12.
Because of relatively inexpensive online access and the need for measured change most families expect, Blended Learning is the obvious answer for most schools and districts. I suggest every teacher in every classroom form his/her BLended Learning strategy, before an administrator forms it for you.
Allow me to introduce you to, walk you through, and give you easy points of integration - before your boss comes around with his/her ideas.
I am a teacher since 1998, an eLearning Specialist since 2009, and a crusader for blended learning since 2012.
I have been blogging about Blended Learning since 2013. I am an expert in getting teachers to adopt new technologies and techniques since 2009 within my district; almost always in advance of their educational leaders.
